NetworkNewsBreaks – EVIO, Inc. (EVIO) Posts Fiscal Q2 2018 Financial Results

EVIO, Inc. (OTCQB: EVIO), a leading provider of cannabis testing and scientific research for the regulated cannabis industry, this morning announced financial and operating results for the quarter and six months ended March 31, 2018. Among other highlights, the company reported revenue for the second quarter of $732,311, a decrease of $56,415 or 12.1% from the second quarter last year. Revenue from the six months ending March 31, 2018, however, was $1,679,176, an increase of $177,997 or 11.9% from the same period in 2017. “EVIO’s second quarter focused greatly on broadening the company’s portfolio. With our recent private placement of $5.973 million, we expanded the company’s footprint by acquiring additional labs, namely in California, a market that we have identified as having unparalleled potential,” EVIO CEO William Waldrop stated in the news release. “We expect the state of California to enforce mandated compliance testing by July 1, 2018. With operational facilities in both Humboldt and Berkeley and the goal of further expansion into the state, we feel like EVIO is well-positioned to meet California’s demand for cannabis testing. Another significant milestone was our entrance into the Canadian market and launched EVIO Canada with the acquisition of Keystone Labs ahead of the country’s legalization of adult recreational use this summer.”

Lao drug kingpin with celebrity links gets 2nd life sentence

Sep 26, 2018

BANGKOK — A court in Thailand has given a second life sentence to a drug kingpin from Laos whose social connections to various celebrities were exposed by his arrest. Bangkok's Criminal Court on Wednesday initially gave Xaysana Keophimpha a death sentence for smuggling 1 million methamphetamine pills from Laos to southern Thailand and Malaysia, but reduced his punishment to life in prison because he cooperated during the police investigation. The same court in March had handed Xaysana a life sentence over the smuggling of 1.2 million methamphetamine pills from Laos after a group of traffickers identified him as the leader...

GOP lines up Kavanaugh vote plan as showdown hearing nears

Sep 26, 2018

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump denounced Democratic efforts to block Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation as a cynical "con job" on Tuesday and launched a dismissive attack on a second woman accusing the nominee of sexual misconduct in the 1980s, asserting she "has nothing." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell predicted that Kavanaugh would win approval, despite the new allegations and uncertainty about how pivotal Republicans would vote in a roll call now expected early next week. Like much of America, lawmakers awaited a momentous Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in which Kavanaugh and chief accuser Christine Blasey Ford are to testify...

Cosby camp: Once-beloved actor a victim of racism, sexism

Sep 26, 2018

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — A publicist for once-beloved actor Bill Cosby complained that his conviction and three- to 10-year prison term for sexual assault Tuesday stem from a racist and sexist justice system, as the defense vowed to appeal the first celebrity trial of the #MeToo era. Cosby, 81, was spending his first night alone in a Pennsylvania prison after being accustomed to a life filled with handlers and household help. Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said that Cosby was "one of the greatest civil rights leaders in the United States for over the past 50 years," while decrying the trial as...

Deported man is suspect in deadly California beatings

Sep 26, 2018

LOS ANGELES — A man who was deported from the United States six times was expected in court Wednesday to face charges after police say he killed three people and injured four in attacks targeting sleeping homeless men in California. Investigators believe Ramon Escobar, 47, began attacking the men at random on Sept. 8, shortly after he arrived in California from Houston, where he's considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his uncle and aunt. Escobar, who was believed homeless himself, likely targeted victims to rob them, Los Angeles police Capt. William Hayes told reporters Tuesday. Detectives have...

Suspect in deadly California attacks was deported 6 times

Sep 26, 2018

LOS ANGELES — A Texas man suspected of killing three people and seriously injuring four in a string of attacks on sleeping Southern California men — most of them homeless — had a long criminal history and had been deported from the United States six times, immigration officials said Tuesday night. Ramon Escobar, 47, who was believed homeless himself, likely targeted victims to rob them, Los Angeles police Capt. William Hayes told reporters at a news conference Tuesday. Escobar could be charged Wednesday with murder and attempted murder in connection with a weekslong string of attacks. Meanwhile, authorities in Houston...
